Are You A Busy Bee?
As I sit and write this post, my downtown apartment building is buzzing like a hive. Dwellers are coming and going. Many are arriving home from work, heading out to dinner, preparing for meetings the following day or putting on their workout clothes. This has created the idea that life in general is a scramble - a bee hive of busy bees if you will.
We are not immune.
Russ runs 2 companies, is currently launching another and dabbles in motivational speaking. I work part time, sit on a Non-Profit Board and an advisory committee at our church - which we are hyper involved in. During the month of January alone, we will spend three separate weekends in different places: Chicago, Kansas City and the Island of Barbados.
Plus we launched this website. The list goes on and on.
So how do we fit it all in? How does anyone?
On New Years Eve, we asked ourselves this exact question.
We knew something had to give. Looking at our schedule, we decided to do something unusual, maybe even radical.
Perhaps you want to join us in this experiment as well?
We declared the month of January to be TV and MOVIE Free. This includes: YouTube, watching while you exercise, watching before bed, the whole enchilada!
When most of America is winding down in front of the hue, we now have found extra hours to read, write, complete personal projects, work, sleep and just be together. We even found extra time to watch 2 school orchestra concerts and 1 middle school soccer game.
2 Disclaimers:
Everyone may not want to go cold turkey. We get it. Limit your weekly screen time to fit the demands of your schedule. Make this work for you.
You have kids? We didn’t say no TV for them, just you. (Said with a hug, kiss and a slap! You can hate us later...)
We are still bees, buzzing crazy fast and our lives still sound loud. But to us, it is a little quieter, with more time to visit all of the important flowers. TV was just a weed that had crept in.
